Christian Huygen, Ph.D.

Christian Huygen has served as director of Rainbow Heights Club, an advocacy and socialization program for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people living with mental illness, since 2002.  He received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from The New School for Social Research. 

Past and present research interests include collective remembering and social categorization; autobiographical memory in changing social contexts; and the effectiveness of culturally specific psychosocial and support services to marginalized psychiatric populations.

Clinical interests include psychosocial, solution-focused and constructionist approaches to psychotherapy; peer-based services and consumers as providers; trauma and dissociation; and the particular needs and issues of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender clients.
